It was situated right next to the bus station which means luggage does not have to be dragged through town in order to move to other side of island. Only 10 mins to old town and harbour if one has time to enjoy the town.

We stayed at the Samaria on 2 nights on our way to and from the Samaria Gorge and Elafonisi Beach. The hotel is a stone's throw from the Hania bus station (literally) and a short walk to the harbour and shops which is very convenient. We had rooms on the 3rd floor (306 and 311) - both were clean and air conditioned, although 311 overlooked the bus station so we occasionally heard announcements and bus horns but otherwise it was pretty quiet. The pillows in 306 were perfect! The shower in 311 was an over-the-bath job which was pretty cramped but better than some others we have used in 7 months of travelling. Breakfast was good with a nice selection of fresh food to choose from.
They didn't supply any blankets or bed covers, only one sheet on the bed. Even though we could turn the air conditioner off and it wasn't too cold we would still have liked access to a blanket. The reception area smells like cigarette smoke. It didn't bother us but may bother some.

My best decision yet!
A fantastic location just steps from Chania's charming old town. The attentive staff fulfilled my special request for a bathtub, and the breakfast was a good mix of fresh local produce. Days started with a delicious variety of options, and evenings were upgraded with soothing piano music in the lounge.

We arrived in Chania at 6am from the overnight ferry and they provided us with a room. We were really grateful to be able to check in so early. Breakfast was very nice and included in the price.
